Camera Toss

Having been exploring Flickr and receiving comments on some of my own work, I was directed to the Camera Toss Group (which I had already come accross in my random searches for interesting groups) which I joined. I have yet to post any pictures there becuase I haven't gotten around to actually "tossing" a camera (I'm sure you can guess why based on this entry's associated picture), but some of the work over there is fantastic.

They now also have a Camera Toss Blog which has some really fantastic pictures up. Some of you out there who really enjoy photography might want to check it out.

I'm not quite ready to start tossing my cameras into the air (I just bought the damn thing), but I have taken some pictures that are similar (although not nearly as good as the really good stuff showcased on their blog or their Flickr group).

I highly recommend you pop over and check out what I'm talking about (especially those of you who are really into your photography).

Thanks. Love the images from that site, but with a new camera, I'm a bit hesitant to start tossing it up in the air. I may try a few with my older camera.

Hi, you mention just starting with a digital camera and using Flickr to post pictures to your blog. I am just starting this and so far have tried Picasa. Do you like Flickr? Is it easy to use? Any helpful comments? Someone told me that one picture I had posted on my blog was too large and I should re-size. i think I did that but have had no feedback yet. The pictures I posted so far on my blog looked fine to me.

Mamie,
Hopefully you'll check back here and this will work as a way to reply to you. To answer your first question. I love Flickr. A friend had turned me on to it and I used to free account for the first month. After uploading my limit, I went ahead and purchased two years worth. It is overwhelmingly easy to learn and if you are blogging on blogger as it appears you are, you can even post to your blog (with photos) from Flickr. They also have the sets you can create to help further organize your photos, plus the tagging, and several methods for uploading your pics.

The only thing I don't particularly care for is their take on digital artwork vs. photos. They want it to be all photos and tend to frown on artwork or digitally altered photos. That being said, I still love it. If you go ahead and join flickr, feel free to add me as a contact and I'd be glad to help out where I can when I can.

Cayusa, thank you for taking the time to answer my questions and for taking a look at the pics on my blog. Much appreciated! I will go on Flickr and do some exploring. Will also visit your blog from time to time - hope to read more interesting posts!

No problem at all. Glad I was able to help and glad to see there are other people beyond my family and friends keeping up with this.
